Here’s our son reading random words at age 4.8:

Now at age 5.5 here he is reading a *chapter book* all by himself:

At the time he simply could not read to himself silently. It was kind of funny and probably unpleasant for his throat!

John easily reads 100 pages a day now; sometimes he’s even been known to read over 300 pages in a single day!

Finding appropriate books for him has become a real problem. He simply goes through them too fast. And much of the content at his reading level now isn’t anything we’re crazy about. A 6 year old most certainly DOES NOT need to read about teenage dating.
